First steps in diving: it is useful to know
The fact that many thousands of fanatics of scuba diving are ready to confirm: diving is the most “perching” type of active recreation. People who made the first few dives and at least did not think about buying a mask, flippers and wetsuits can be counted on fingers. Still would! Bright, incomparable and always a little adrenaline sensations from underwater walks will not leave anyone indifferent.
But the talk now is not about the beauty of the underwater world, but only about practical issues directly related to diving tours: the dangers of scuba diving (real and imaginary), ways to simplify life for beginners, learning opportunities, diving geography and, of course, about insurance.
The dangers are real and imaginary
The fear of the first dive often becomes the main inhibitory moment that prevents the tourist from joining a new type of active recreation. However, diving, especially recreational, can be called an extreme sport only for advertising purposes. Scuba diving, as in skiing, has its own levels of difficulty, and there are practically no serious dangers for beginners – no one puts neophyte skiers who confuse the yoke with the telemark directly onto the black track. Of course, the person on whom the wetsuit was put on for the first time in his life will experience excitement – and some more! But if you dive with modern equipment and carefully consider the instructions, this excitement will remain just a pleasant surge of hormones before diving into the unknown. This “extreme” – great depths, tangible currents, night dives, ice and speleo-diving – the lot of experienced divers.
For beginners, however, there is shallow water, water of comfortable temperature and the absence of strong currents. The only thing they have to fear is close contact with poisonous creatures or plants. Before the dive, a separate item must surely be included in the instruction that nothing under water can be grasped by hands: not only for safety reasons of the diver himself, but also in order not to cause any harm to the underwater flora and fauna. In fact, if every diver in the Red Sea touches one coral, after a couple of years there will be nothing to touch.
For “amateur” diving on vacation it is not at all necessary to have your own equipment: cylinders, a regulator, a buoyancy compensator, a compass – all this stuff can be rented at any diving center.
